FerraStone reached out to obtain pricing on a NEMA 12 tower computer enclosure and a NEMA 12 stand-up computer enclosure

COMPANY SYNOPSIS:
According to the company’s website, “FerraStone’s expertise, since 1960, has been hand casting fine statuary. Custom sculptured lines range from religious statuary to beer tap handles. Each item is designed and manufactured under the expert direction of highly skilled artists and sculptors. Skilled craftsmen hand cast and hand finish each piece of statuary.” FerraStone is located in Newport, Kentucky.

HOW DID FERRASTONE FIND ITSENCLOSURES:
Over 2 decades(!) ago, FerraStone discovered ITSENCLOSURES’ large line of NEMA rated computer enclosures by performing a search for dust-proof industrial enclosures. The president of FerraStone reached out to obtain pricing on a NEMA 12 tower computer enclosure and a NEMA 12 stand-up computer enclosure.

PROJECT:
Because FerraStone manufactures statues and incense powders, they desired a freestanding computer enclosure to house a monitor, printer, and computer. A second enclosure was needed to house a tower pc and would be stored underneath a desk.

CHALLENGES:
One of the biggest challenges: damaging dust and dirt in the air. FerraStone wished to maintain the utmost cleanliness throughout its facility and protect electronics and computers. The customer noted that, “there is so much dust, that it would have choked the fans!”

SOLUTION:
After reviewing various IceStation models, FerraStone deployed the IS562626-12 freestanding computer enclosure, which is rated NEMA 12 and protects against dust and dirt. The customer’s enclosure houses a computer, printer, and a monitor. The IS56-12 (powder coated blue) configuration includes 3 adjustable shelves, industrial grade casters, a keyboard tray, a rear split panel, lockable doors, lifting eye bolts to move the enclosure around with ease, and it can comfortably house a 21” monitor.

The second solution was an IP122826-12, which is also rated NEMA 12 and is designed to protect a tower computer. The IP12-12 (powder coated putty) features a lockable front door, power cord, and rear split panel for running wires and cables.

SUMMARY OF PROJECT:
The customer continues to be very happy with both IceStation enclosures. They exclaimed, “The ITSENCLOSURES products kept virtually ALL of the dust from the computers. You could take a white glove and find no dust. [The enclosures] were installed in 1999 and it is now 2018 and they are still working fine!”

Scott’s Miracle-Gro was interested in stainless steel monitor enclosures for their plant.

COMPANY SYNOPSIS:
According to the Scotts website, “The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company is the world’s largest marketer of branded consumer lawn and garden products. The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company was founded in 1868 by O.M. Scott as a premium seed company for the U.S. agricultural industry. In the early 1900s, the Company began a lawn grass seed business for homeowners. The company grew from a leading lawn care business to an international marketer of industry-leading brands with a 1995 merger with Miracle-Gro.”

HOW DID SCOTTS MIRACLE-GRO FIND ITSENCLOSURES:
While researching NEMA 4X, stainless steel monitor enclosures, Scotts discovered ITSENCLOSURES through an online search. The Scotts employee downloaded various spec/data sheets of monitor enclosures’ products that could work for their needs, and ITSENCLOSURES followed up to see if Scotts would like pricing breakdowns of products with accessories.

Scotts Miracle Gro Installation - IceStation PC Enclosure - ITSENCLOSURESPROJECT:
Scotts was seeking an updated solution similar to existing monitor enclosures deployed throughout the plant and machine shop. After evaluating the electronics that would be installed, Scotts required a combination of flat panel monitor enclosures – which can house 22-inch panel mount touchscreens and another set of enclosures to house barcode label printers. Some areas require NEMA 4X protection (hose directed fluids, corrosive materials, dust, and dirt) and other areas needed NEMA 12 protection against just dust and dirt.

CHALLENGES:
Because of the production of various lawn care products, the overall Scotts environment is quite dusty. Some areas also require regular washdowns and are most suitable for stainless steel, NEMA 4X monitor enclosures. To make the most of space, Scotts wished to have a small footprint enclosure, rather than a free-standing enclosure.

SOLUTION:
Scotts initially purchased an IO28-4X and PB20-12 enclosure to test at the facility. They continued to purchase additional enclosures for evaluation before deciding to exclusively use the IO28-4X enclosure on the production line. The stainless steel IO28-4X monitor enclosures are mounted to the wall (with the IceStation IOUMB) or on a bolt down pedestal (AP3343). For areas that do not require much cleaning, but still require protection against dust, Scott’s deployed IO28-04 monitor enclosures. Scotts also utilized the PB20-12 printer enclosure mounted on both bolt down and mobile pedestals (AMP3343).

SUMMARY OF PROJECT:
Over the past couple years, Scotts deployed over 40 printer and monitor enclosures, which included the IO28-4X, IO28-04, and PB20-12. They are pleased with ITSENCLOSURES’ ability to quickly deliver heavy-duty monitor enclosures – with minimal assembly required to get the system up and running quickly.

COMPANY SYNOPSIS:
Nestlé is a world leader in nutrition, health, and wellness. Nestlé USA food production facilities manufacture many household names, including, Stouffer’s, TombStone, California Pizza Kitchen, Coffee-Mate, DiGiorno, Haagen-Dazs, Edy’s, Wonka, Coffee-Mate, Butterfinger, Sweetarts, Toll House, Libby’s, Carnation, Nescafe, Hot Pockets, Lean Cuisine, Nesquik, and many other international brands.

HOW DID THEY FIND ITSENCLOSURES:
Nestlé USA has a longstanding relationship with ITSENCLOSURES. The Springvale, Utah location was referred to ITSENCLOSURES by another Nestlé location in the United States.

PROJECT:
Nestlé USA Computer Enclosure ITSENCLOSURES.jpgThe Nestlé’s food processing plant in Springville, Utah was faced with a large deployment of computers, monitors, printers, and keyboards on the plant floor. Nestlé sought an industrial, heavy-duty enclosure solution that would keep electronics safe and operational 24/7 in a mission critical, manufacturing environment.

CHALLENGES
:
While planning implementation of a computer enclosure solution, Nestlé was mindful of the need to protect their electronics in a harsh environment. The enclosures would be exposed to a regular chemical wash down, which is required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In addition, the electronics and enclosures were required to be functional for day-to-day operations. Finally, Nestlé faced the additional challenge of keeping the cost of a prospective solution under capital budget restraints.

SOLUTION:
ITSENCLOSURES assessed the environment, which included the challenges of fluctuating temperatures and chemical wash down. NEMA 4X stainless steel enclosures are best suited for this type of environment, because they will withstand a harsh chemical sanitation process without leaving bacterial residue, as well as, combat against the excessive thermal management challenges. To be sure that all concerns and functionality issues were addressed prior to finalizing a design, ITSENCLOSURES worked closely with Nestlé during the design and production phase of the process. The enclosure design was dictated by the requirement to use off-the-shelf computer systems, including desktop monitors. ITSENCLOSURES assisted Nestlé in choosing the correct NEMA 4X enclosures, as well as proper input (keyboard & mouse) devices. Once prototype units were developled and all tests were performed, Nestlé moved forward with a complete enclosure solution for the plant.

SUMMARY OF PROJECT
:
When Nestlé decided to deploy electronics on the production floor, they knew they were going to have to deal with a harsh ambient environment, such as intense heat, bitter cold in freezer areas, and substantial moisture. As is commonly known, electronics do not typically mix well in these types of environments. Nestlé concluded that they needed to enclose the electronics, but were unsure how to accomplish. The IT staff had not been faced with this type of challenge in the past. Knowing they were going to need experienced assistance, Nestlé turned to ITSENCLOSURES to provide advice and skilled consultation in enclosing electronics against the various challenges in the production environment.

ITSENCLOSURES was instrumental in assessing and recommending choices for functionality, survivability, and productivity in Nestlé’s enclosure solutions. ITSENCLOSURES provided all engineering, design, and production facets of the project and worked closely with Nestlé’s IT department to ensure a timely delivery.

Nestle continues to use the same enclosure products deployed over a decade ago. “We really appreciate how all of ITSENCLOSURES’ products are built to last and perform for many years,” said Val Hunter, Facility Systems Manager at Nestlé.  Hunter continued, “ITSENCLOSURES has certainly been a partner in our success and it is a credit to ITSENCLOSURES’ commitment to us to ensure that we succeed.”

Wis-Pak was in need of NEMA 4X monitor enclosures for a PC monitor, which is used for the collection of vital data.

COMPANY SYNOPSIS:
Wis-Pak of Norfolk is a leading manufacturer of soft drinks, non-carbonated beverages, and purified water, currently producing over 95 different flavors. The 211,000 square foot facility houses four filling lines that produce 21 hours per day (16 million cases annually). Wis-Pak of Norfolk currently employs over 105 employees, including: forklift drivers, maintenance technicians, syrup batchers, machine operators, laboratory technicians, and sanitation specialists. Wis-Pak is a cooperative owned by independent Pepsi-Cola franchisees with its corporate offices located in Watertown, Wisconsin. Wis-Pak has production facilities and warehouses located throughout the Central United States.

IO28-4X computer monitor enclosure stainless steel nema 4X itsenclosuresHOW DID WIS-PAK FIND ITSENCLOSURES:
Wis-Pak of Norfolk performed a Google search for stainless steel, NEMA 4X pc & monitor enclosures and found IceStation Interface Operator Enclosures on the ITSENCLOSURES website. A Wis-Pak safety coordinator reached out via a quote submission form for pricing on three units with accessories.

PROJECT:
The project called for NEMA 4X enclosures for a pc & monitor, which is used for the collection of downtime data and recording data on PC sticks. Due to the damp setting and routine washdown, the electronics require waterproof housing in a heavy-duty enclosure.

CHALLENGES:
Wis-Pak of Norfolk’s main challenge is protection from a wet area not conducive for electronics. Also, the company fills cans and bottles with various beverages and water, so to maintain a clean environment and for overall sanitation, the factory utilizes chemicals for routine washdowns.

SOLUTION:
Because the facility necessitates harsh washdowns, Wis-Pak elected to deploy three 304 stainless steel, NEMA 4X enclosures (IO28-4X). The flat panel monitor enclosures can house 22-inch monitors (19.25″ x 12.25″ viewing window) and offer NEMA 4X protection from hose directed fluids, corrosive materials, dust and dirt. On the production line, the enclosures are mounted to the wall with stainless steel keyboard trays and include an internally mounted 100 cfm circulating fan.

SUMMARY OF PROJECT:
The 1028-4X monitor enclosures are the perfect addition to Wis-Pak of Norfolk’s operation by keeping the vital monitors and computers protected and free from water, chemicals and dirt.
